Mierley Jean (Fordham) Snyder, 84, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at her home in Lewiston, after an extended illness.
Mierley was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Bend, Ore., to Wilfred Alfred and Olive (Reimers) Fordham, and graduated from Bend High School in 1951.
Mierley was a secretary at Lewiston High School and for the Port of Lewiston. She retired from the Port of Lewiston in 1990. Mierley married John C. Snyder in 1983 and they celebrated 34 years of marriage. Mierley loved camping, four-wheeling, reading, playing cards and spending time with family. Her kindness, ever-present smile, laughter, unconditional love and "Mierley" jokes made her a positive influence on everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband, John, who lovingly cared for her at home for the last five years of her life. She is also survived by her children, Darliss (Larry) Day Bardwell and Kim (Day) Uhlorn; their father, Douglas Day; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olive and Wilfred Fordham; a sister, Arla (Fordham) Laylon; and a daughter, Alana (Day) Bailey.
The family wishes to express gratitude and thankfulness for the hospice nurses who helped take care of Mierley in her final months. She looked forward to their home visits and felt like they became her extended family.
A celebration of Mierley's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the rear banquet room of Jollymore's, 1516 Main St., Lewiston. Snacks and a no-host lunch will be available, and story-sharing will begin at 1 p.m.
