Nicholas Charles Krakalia, 76, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at his Lewiston home. He was born April 12, 1949, to Eugene John Krakalia and Mary Kathlin Krakalia (Calvin), in Denver.
Growing up in East Glacier, Mont., Nick spent quality time with his dad who worked on tour buses and later with him at the family’s Texaco gas station in Great Falls, Mont.
Nick graduated from C.M. Russell High School in Great Falls, in 1965, and then spent four years at the College of Great Falls where he majored in Sociology with minors in both Psychology and Criminal Justice.
Nick met partner Marge Tate on March 24, 1995, and from then on shared life together up to the present.
Nick was employed as a police sergeant with the Great Falls airport police from 1975-89 and as U.S. Customs Service inspector in Great Falls from 1979-89. He retired from the Lewiston Police Department as a patrol officer in 2019 with 30 years of service to our community.
Among his many hobbies Nick enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with friends at Bojack’s and The Zoo, and watching NASCAR races.
Nick was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Clarkston Aerie #3936. He donated to many causes including Wounded Warrior Project, Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the National Rifle Association (NRA).
Nick is survived by his partner Marge Tate, of Lewiston; stepdaughter Tammy Holloway (Roger), of Spirit Lake, Idaho; stepdaughter Tina Christie (Tony), Lewiston; stepson Travis Tate (Lisa), Lewiston; grandson Justin Webb (Cami), Rathdrum, Idaho; granddaughter Chelsea Cunnington, Spokane; grandson Colt Christie, Lewiston; grandson Jaeden Myers, Pullman; great-granddaughter Jayda Webb, Priest River, Idaho; great-granddaughter Layla Webb, Athol, Idaho; great-granddaughter Aria Christianson, Spokane; great-grandson and great-granddaughter Gage and Reese Loftin, Rathdrum; stepdaughter Brenda Warhine (Jay), Great Falls; and stepdaughter Stephanie Christopherson (Dwayne), Lewiston.
His father and mother, Eugene and Mary Krakalia, preceded Nick in death.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be held from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Clarkston Eagles Club, 505 Maple St., Clarkston.
