Raymond Leslie Grimm, 93, of Lewiston, died on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2023, of a broken heart. His wife, Georgia E. Snyder Grimm, of 72 years, died less than two months earlier on Oct. 30. Ray was born May 10, 1930, to Leslie Charles Grimm of Wright, Minn., and Ruby Grace Brown of Las Animas, Colo. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948, then went into the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1950. He worked for Potlatch Forests Inc., after the Navy and finished his career with them as superintendent in charge of maintenance of the sawmill.
Ray is survived by one brother, Earl Grimm in the Federal Way, Wash., area. Ray and Georgia had five children: Pamela Kelly (Mike) of Lewiston; Sherril Pearson (Corey) of Lewiston; Julie Hallen (Richard) of Richland; Brian Grimm of Lewiston and Kristen Hix (David) of Lewiston. They have many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was an active member of Church of New Hope for many years, even designing the new building for dinners and gatherings. He loved fishing and camping with his family. He loved to play with his children, grandchildren, great- and even great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, 920 21st Ave., Lewiston. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at River City Church, 2102 Eighth St., Lewiston. (The family viewing is from 11 to noon Saturday, Jan. 6.)
