On Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, around noon, I lost my amazing mother. Many of you knew my house was a safe, warm, loving place to go, no matter what.
In August of last year, Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer. This type of cancer is very rare and aggressive, but Mom was ready to do everything possible to fight this cancer that didn’t have a high survival rate.
Unfortunately, on Feb. 22, 2022, Mom took a turn for the worse and by Friday she was on hospice.
Sarah Mae Statler was born Aug. 22, 1969, in Kankakee, Ill., and her parents were Donna Statler (Burelison) and Brian Hensley. She moved to Lewiston in the summer of ’84 and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1988. Sarah worked at Northwest Children’s Home for almost 25 years and would foster dogs for Helpings Hands Rescue.
Sarah is survived by daughters, Tiffany (Statler) Page, of Lewiston, and Harley Parker, of Spokane; father, Brian Hensley, of Lewiston; sister, Tami Fruin, of Coeur d’Alene; niece, Kasey Hail, of Post Falls; nephew, Junior Fruin, of Coeur d’Alene; and brother-in-law, John Clendennen, of Coeur d’Alene. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Mae Statler.
Memorial donations can go to Helping Hands Rescue or the Donna Statler Scholarship Fund.
Lewiston’s Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Condolences

38 years, that’s how long Sarah and I have known each other. 38 years! I can’t believe shes gone, I don’t know how I’m suppose to to do this. We were supposed to grow old and grey together. I couldn’t have ask for a better or truer friend. She’s been there for everything, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let’s be real ,she was usually the cause of the ugly😂 I spent our teens getting her out of trouble, and she spent them adding excitement to mine. She could always make me laugh, how I need to hear her sweet voice right now. My heart aches ,as I’m sure some of yours do as well. She will be forever missed . I Love you Sarah💜

To the ones left behind.
I send my prayers for strength, through this time. There are no words to say how sorry I am for the loss of Sarah.
She was definitely one of a kind. How many people would visit someone, just because they were and old friend of her moms? But she made it a point to see me every time she made the trip to Illinois. I always looked forward to her and Tiff or her and Christy meeting for coffee or lunch! She, like her mom before and her daughter now, realize it’s the little thoughtful things that matter.

The world will not be the same without Sarah! She was so much fun to work with and she was witty and funny. Banana chocolate chips in the morning with a great cup of coffee made my time with Sarah extra special. I will miss her. Sending you love Tiffany, you were the light in Sarah’s eyes.

Tiffany,
I sure miss your mom. I look around my house and see how much impact she had on me from Sprocket, to our road trips. I am thinking of you, Brian, Tami and the rest of the family. It won't be the same without her.
Love you,
Christy
