Sherri Rae Vaughan-Bailey

10/5/1952 — 4/30/2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved momma, nana, sister, aunt and friend. Sherri Rae Vaughan-Bailey, entered eternal life on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 73.

This world welcomed a living angel to Earth on Oct. 5, 1952. Born in Boise to Bruce E. and Helen Vaughn. She was raised in Yuma, Ariz., and graduated from Kofa High School in 1971. Later, while making her home in Lewiston with her twin daughters she continued her education at Lewis-Clark State College, earning her Associate of Applied Science degree in Medical Secretarial Studies in 1987. She went on to receive her certification as an ophthalmic assistant through the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Sherri dedicated the majority of her life working in the medical field where she built countless relationships with her gentle spirit, sense of humor and of course prayer. She was known for her daily messages of encouragement, often sending texts like, “God’s blessings to you, love Mom,” or “The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day!” Her way of reminding us that it is in fact another beautiful day.

Throughout her life, especially during her later years she faced many medical obstacles but Sherri’s faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, never wavered. She carried herself with quiet strength and grace, choosing gratitude over complaint and prayer over despair. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her through every challenge and shaping the way she loved others.

Sherri had a deep love and pride for her family, especially her grandchildren, who were truly the joys in her life. She did not miss the opportunity to support them in everything they did, from school musicals to sporting events, taking them to church or simply cheering them on. She was actively involved in Church her entire life, participating in choir and sharing her love of music through both group and solo performances.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Julee Bailey and Jonie Engel (Ron); her cherished grandchildren, Paige Bailey, Kierstin Freeze, Cassie Williamson and Veronica Ratcliff (Blake); and her adored great-grandchildren, Laytin, Rhen and Ember (Kierstin), Blakely and Blaire (Veronica); sister Judy Wicks (Jim); brother Ron Vaughan and families including her cherished nieces and nephews. She is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved parents and many loved ones, including the pets she held dear.

A celebration of Sherri’s life and steadfast faith will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 8, at Orchards Community Church, 822 Bryden Ave., Lewiston.

Sherri’s life was a testament to her enduring faith, unconditional love for others.

“Don’t walk in front of me, for I may not follow; don’t walk behind me, for I may not lead; walk beside me and be my friend.”— Albert Camus
