Stephanie Marie Taylor
Jan. 20, 1966 — Oct. 4, 2025
Stephanie Marie Taylor, a proud member of the Nez Perce Tribe, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, due to sudden cardiac arrest, at Cascadia Rehabilitation Care Center in Clarkston.
Born on Jan. 20, 1966, in San Diego, to Erna Jean Cromer and Rick Cromer, Stephanie spent her early years in San Diego and graduated from Hoover High School. She met Sam Martin in high school, and together they welcomed their son, Sam Martin Jr., in 1984. Stephanie moved her young family to Clarkston, following her parents.
She then met Kelly Anderson, and they became proud parents of their son, Kelly Anderson Jr. ("KJ") in 1991. In 2000, Stephanie and her sons purchased their first home in Asotin, a milestone she cherished deeply.
Stephanie briefly attended Lewis-Clark State College, alongside her mother, before beginning a 21-year career at Clearwater River Casino. She served as a custodian, machine floor person and cashier, earning a reputation for her warm, fun-loving customer service and deep camaraderie with her Casino family.
Outside of work, Stephanie found joy in crafting jewelry, beading, barbecuing, and spending time with loved ones. She was an avid volleyball and softball player, participating in both women’s and co-ed leagues. Known affectionately as a “professional cat herder,” she leaves behind her beloved feline companions: Oliver, Felix and Smokey.
Stephanie is survived by her sons, Sam Martin and Daniel Hamlin Jr.; her father, Delmar Wilson; sisters Laurie Ann Cloud and DelRae Kipp; aunts Gladys Slickpoo, Karen Albright, Carol Pryne and Rose Ketchum; uncle Phillip Rich; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Kelly Anderson Jr., her mother Erna Cromer, her father Rick Cromer, and her grandmother Marie McGrenra.
A visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home in Lewiston. A celebration of life will follow starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center in Lapwai. Per her wishes, cremation will take place, and her remains will be laid to rest beside her mother at Spalding Park Cemetery.
