Stephen Hamilton Hyndman, 76, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, with complications of dementia.
He was born Oct. 9, 1947, to Harry Hyndman and Virginia Vasey Hyndman, in Springfield, Ill.
Stephen attended the University of Illinois and Michigan State University. He married Cynda Higgason June 27, 1970, in Springfield.
Stephen was employed with the Nez Perce National Historical Park and later at the Idaho Transportation Department, in Lewiston.
Stephen was a member of the Congregational Presbyterian Church in Lewiston and participated in the Walk with Christ program, where he found friendship, inspiration and spiritual strength for life’s journey.
Stephen is survived by his wife Cynda Hyndman, of Lewiston; daughters Sara Hyndman and Emily (Austin) Brown, both of Lewiston; four grandchildren: Caleb Hyndman, Joshua Hyndman, Addison Brown and Oliver Brown, all of Lewiston; brother Harry (Kathleen) Hyndman, of St. Louis; sister Ellen (John) Schmidt, of Hudson, Wis.; mother-in-law Margie Higgason, of Springfield, and his beloved cat, Cabo.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Virginia Hyndman.
Besides spending time with his family and friends, Steve had a passion for Christ. He would often speak at Walk with Christ weekends, and he had a tremendous impact on countless people as he shared God’s love and message of new life in Him.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16, at Echo Hills Church, 3215 Echo Hills Drive, Lewiston, with Rev. Adam Ogg, officiating.
