Vernon “Vern” Douglas Permann, 88, passed away at his home in Culdesac with his family at his side on Friday, March 13, 2026.
He was born in American Falls, Idaho, on Dec. 6, 1937, to Lorraine (Vollmer) Haggard Permann and Cecil Haggard. Vern was adopted by his stepfather, Otto Permann, in 1954.
Vern graduated from American Falls High School in 1955 where he enjoyed playing on the basketball team.
Vern married Lorita Bolingbroke in August of 1955. They began farming in Arbon, Idaho, and later moved to Pocatello, Idaho. Vern and Lorita had three children John Permann, Joni (Permann) Petersen, and Vaun Permann. Vern and Lorita later divorced in 1988.
Vern married Sharron (Bonnie) White in May of 1996. They lived in Pocatello and Boise before finally settling in Culdesac. Vern loved the Culdesac area and enjoyed many happy years there. He enjoyed caring for his property and was a very talented wood artist, crafting beautiful furniture and boxes in his shop.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Permann; daughter Joni (Mike) Petersen, and son Vaun (Beatriz) Permann; grandchildren Michael Permann, Austin (Noel) Petersen, Evan Petersen, Dylan Petersen and Ava Petersen. He is preceded in death by his son John Permann and parents Cecil Haggard, and Otto and Lorraine Permann.
The family is planning a private funeral service at a later date.
