Vern grew up in the Houston area, graduated from Sealy (Texas) High School in 1979, and attended Southern Bible College in Houston.
Vern moved to the Lewis-Clark Valley after college and always loved the Valley. He married Veronica Jean Rippleman on June 8, 1985, at Faith Tabernacle in Lewiston.

Growing up as a “PK” (Preacher’s Kid) gave him a foundational faith from an early age, which he embraced, and a strong desire to love and serve others as Jesus did. He attended Faith Tabernacle and then Family Fellowship the last few years. He sang and played more than a dozen instruments.
Vern is survived by his wife Veronica, of Lewiston; his mother Betty Edgerly, Clarkston; mother-in law Betty Rippleman, Lewiston; sister Ruthie (Shawn) Oberg, Springfield, Mo.; sister Renee (Robert) Fletcher, Angleton, Texas; brother-in-law John Rippleman, Lewiston; nieces and nephews and three cousins.
