Wayne Tachell was born in Omak. Washington Sept. 6, 1946, and died at home in Orofino, Idaho, July 23, 2023. He grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington, and Alaska, with his mom and stepdad and four younger siblings. Four years ago, thanks to Ancestry, Wayne found his birth father. He had passed away years ago. He was able to meet his brother, Owen Arnet, and his family. Lots of visits and great memories. Wayne joined the Navy July 1964. He served on the USS Herbert J. Thomas, USS Frank E. Evans and USS King. He was honorably discharged February of 1968. Coming back home to Washington state, he met the love of his life, Suzette. They were married May 9, 1970 in Silverdale, Washington. They had three boys together, and in May celebrated 53 years together. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Judy Hogardy and Margie White; his brother, Laurence Tachell; his brother-in-law; Robin Solman; his cousin, Rick Dorion; his mother-in-law, Betty Solman and his daughter-in-law, Marie Tachell. Wayne is survived by his wife, Suzette; his children, Jamie, Jeremy, Robin and Samantha Tachell and Lisa and Carl Fowler; sister-in-law, Leah Marks; brother-in-law, Daniel Solman and daughter-in-law, Ann. Also, grandchildren Cherish Adams, Mariah Tachell, Emma, Elise and Oliver Tachell, Crystal Tachell, Ashley and Justin Fowler and Shania and Tyler Blegen, and nine great grandchildren. Wayne loved his country and his family. They both came first. He loved fishing, hunting, his guns, black powder rifles and being in the woods. He loved making people laugh! Anyone that knew Wayne knew that he had the biggest heart and brightest smile, followed by his funny jokes and teasing ways. He always made you feel loved, while giving you the best advice when it was needed or not.

Wayne has many accomplishments in his life. He received a Vietnam service medal.

He worked at the Idaho Department of Corrections in Orofino for 17 years and retired Oct. 26, 2006.

Wayne and Suzette became foster parents to their granddaughter Samantha. Her adoption was finalized when she was three years old and they would continue to raise her as their own daughter.

Special thanks to Dr. Jake Foster and too many doctors and RN’s and special CNA’s at CVH to mention. Wayne was so thankful for their care and love. The last four months his special care was given by the Elite Home Health nurses, Compassionate Care and St. Joseph Regional Hospital Hospice nurses.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery in Orofino, Idaho, with Pastor Shane Endicott officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life in the City Park.
