William “Bill” H. Engle, 89, of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, in Lewiston.

He was born March 1, 1937, in Lewiston to Alan and Mayme Engle. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955, and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello.

Bill lived most of his life in Lewiston. He lived in Yuma, Ariz., for 22 years, then moved back to Idaho. He also lived in Hunters, Wash., on the family farm for five years.

Bill owned Green Frog Diving Company and worked summers while in high school living in and staffing fire watch towers in the Clearwater National Forest. He later worked at Summers Funeral Home in Boise, and then Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston.

He and Delores Ann Geffe were married May 18, 1959, in Lewiston. She passed March 24, 2018.

He began work at Medical Service Bureau (now Regence Blue Shield) and retired from there in 1993. He then worked for Quest in Yuma, Ariz., before attending college for photography and taking photos for the college newspaper in Yuma.

Bill always enjoyed woodworking, and he and his wife did tole cutting for crafters in the area. CB and ham radios were another hobby, as well as history. He and the family enjoyed camping and riding motorcycles many weekends, and he especially enjoyed going boating.

Through the years, he was a member of the JayCees and the Masons, Bill served as Master Mason for Nez Perce Lodge, No. 10. He also served on the Lewiston Orchards Irrigation District board for a number of years, on the Lewiston City Planning and Zoning Committee, as well as volunteering for the Nez Perce Historical Society.

Bill was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston.

He is survived by his daughters Barbara (Jeff), Kristen (Lonnie), and Linda (Brian); nine grandchildren and spouses; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Sande (Don), of Sacramento. Bill was preceded by his wife Delores.

A rosary will be recited at 10:20 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, with a funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church, 3330 14th St., Lewiston. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at Normal Hill Cemetery, in Lewiston.
